The 2009 IIHF Semi-Annual Congress started on Wednesday 16th September in Tunis, Tunisia and runs until Saturday 20th September. Various topics about international ice hockey will be discussed including the upcoming World Championships both in Greece and Mexico.
The IIHA’s Interim Director’s have decided to send Sean Dooley and Seanna Conway to represent us at this Congress whom arrived in Tunis on Wednesday evening.
They will be tasked with trying to protect the status quo of the smaller nations as some within the IIHF look to reduce the frequency of the World Championships in a bid to save money. Several other topics will arise including Junior Development, Women’s Hockey as well as deciding venues for future IIHF World Championships.
