30th December, Blanchardstown on Ice the Cork Wolfpack arrived in Dublin to take in the Dublin Ducks/Jr. Flyers. There were two games played. The first was U12’s, this was a hard fought battle throughout. The Ducks/Flyers came out strong going ahead 2-0 after the second period. Cork would not give up though…they battled to the end and were able to tie it up at 2-2. As the game went to a shoot-out both goalies stood strong. The Ducks/Flyers prevailed 1-0 in the shoot-out to take the game. Well done to both teams, it was a great game!!!!
Game 2 was the Over 12’s game. Both teams came out intent inserting the tone. After ten tense minutes Cork was able to break the deadlock with a wrist shot the was rocketed into the upper left corner just over the goalies shoulder. From that point Cork wouldn’t look back. The Ducks/Flyers never quit…testing the Cork goalie often but the Wolfpack’s passing and positional play was to much to handle. Cork took the game 3-0.
It was a great day of hockey and day one of the Cool Runnings Cup has certainly set the tone for leg two in Cork in a couple of weeks time.
