The IIHA would like to extend our best wishes as our Jana Gerkena leaves to participate as a game official for the IIHF’s U18 Women’s World Championship Div. 1 Qualifier in Krynica-Zdroj, Poland. She will be working with other officials from countries such as Finland, Russia, Switzerland, Norway and others. The event begins on Tuesday the 18th of March through Sunday the 23rd of March.
Jana, originally from Latvia, has been officiating for fifteen years. She has been working as a referee in Ireland since 2007. Previously she has worked as an on ice official at the World Championships in Iceland and U18’s qualifiers in Scotland. She has also worked as a lineswoman for the Elite League in Belfast. Jana will be bringing a wealth of experience to this year’s event in Poland.
So from the IIHA Executive and Directors and all IIHA members we would like to extend our best wishes to Jana in Poland. I know you will make us all proud.
