IIHA Partners with KnowTheGame to offer Online Coach Course

The IIHA is pleased to announce it has partnered with KnowTheGame (KTG) to

provide e-learning opportunities for amateur coaches. KTG is located in Canada and currently

delivers online learning for Coaches within the Province of Ontario. The program ensures every

coach continues to develop their skills to create a high quality learning environment for all IIHA

players.

The new mandatory Online Coach Course provides a convenient method of ongoing learning for

coaches and is designed to be accessible from personal computers and laptops. It is presented

as an online curriculum and includes interactive multi-media tutorials, quizzes and printable

downloads. It also enables coaches to access online resources and to complete the learning

modules at their own pace.

President of the IIHA, Aaron Guli says “The Irish Ice Hockey Association is very pleased to be

working with KnowTheGame. With the busy work loads for our volunteer’s it is increasingly

difficult for coaches to attend seminars. We believe that KTG’s modern approach to online

learning will be a great opportunity for our coaches to learn at home or at work at the same

standard as coaches in Ontario, Canada. The IIHA believes in keeping our youth coaches

trained and educated with the global standard. Working with KTG will be a great first step in

ensuring that we maintain these standards.”

The goal is to ensure each player has a qualified and certified coach and to ensure coaches

meet the evolving and varied needs of their athletes. The online course carries accreditation

recognised by the IIHA for a period of 3 years from course completion.

Mark McGuire, President of KTG welcomes the IIHA and is pleased to be able to offer quality

online Hockey coach development currently accredited in Ontario, Canada. McGuire states

Aaron has a clear vision for player and amateur coach development at IIHA. By integrating

online coach learning into this vision, coaching standards for youth Hockey in Ireland will further

develop the sport for those currently involved and stimulate interest for those considering the

sport.”
