IIHA Summer Bar-B-Q A Success

The IIHA’s Summer Bar-B-Q was a huge success yesterday with fun enjoyed by all. Some rain showers early in the day failed to dampen the atmosphere as everyone enjoyed the good music, great food and fantastic craic.

There were plenty of new, old and familiar faces appearing throughout the day with everyone staying long enough to see the sun pop out just in time for some presentations.

It was also great to see many people travel to Dundalk from as far away as Belfast, Cork, Dublin, Donegal and Longford just to enjoy the company of old friends.

The following awards were handed out yesterday:

• Senior Men’s Irish Player of the Year – Adam Pepper
• U20 Men’s Irish Player of the Year – Adam Pepper
• U18 Men’s Irish Player of the Year – Rian Larkin
• Senior Women’s Irish Player of the Year – Beatrice Hosgood
• Young Women’s Irish Player of the Year – Cherise McCaughley
• Appreciation Award for Contribution to the Sport – Dean Kelly

It was a great day had by all and special thanks has to go out to our special cooks on the day, Vytautas Lukosevicius and Ivan Grant, photographer, Derek Tuite, and the DJ for the evening, Michael Tuite. While we must also thank Jim Pepper for organising the entire event along with Catherine Pepper, William Fay and Deborah Fay.

Byrne’s Pub and their entire staff have to be thanked for being so accommodating and friendly throughout the day. The Fairways Hotel must also be thanked for the special deal and discount which they put in place for any of those looking to stay the night in Dundalk.

Thank you to everyone who turned out and also to those who couldn’t make it but still sent their best wishes.

We’re look forward to seeing everyone next time!!!

(Be sure to tune into IIHA.org later in the week as the IIHA’s Editor, Martin Grant, will have more details on the event with some quotes from the award winners.)
