Important Notice

Clubs are requested not to seek to involve IIHL Registered Referees/ Officials in games which have not been sanctioned or where uninsured players might take part. Such games are not covered by the IIHA Insurance Policy and any resulting injury could very well see these officials, or indeed players, incurring serious medical expense.

To avoid confusion about what is, or is not, a sanctioned game, by the start of next season we intend to have an “Upcoming Games” section on the www.iiha.org which will confirm for all, which games can legitimately go ahead.

The Irish Ice Hockey Association takes its duty of care to its members and officials very seriously. If the Association is not seen to adequately, and enthusiastically, police games among member clubs, the insurance premium that the IIHA and it’s members have to pay, could very well soar through the roof. For this reason only, it has been decided that a minimum 3 point deduction will be immediately imposed, at the discretion of the Executive Committee, on any club that takes part in a game where sanction has been refused or where uninsured players are involved.
