The IIHA are pleased to inform all of its members that the IIHF have announced the opening of registrations for the International Women’s Coaching Symposium that will be held in conjunction with the 2011 IIHF World Women’s Championship in Switzerland.
The symposium will be held during the Women’s World Championship in Switzerland from 21st – 23rd April 2011. This program is open to anyone involved in coaching female hockey players of any age.
The symposium will highlight and deal with the important issues relating to coaching female players and will provide an insight into how to create high-performance athletes, both on and off the ice. Esteemed members of the women’s hockey community will lead the sessions and offer their insight on these matters.

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION SUBSIDY
The IIHA are also pleased to announce that the IIHF are offering the IIHA the opportunity to send two applicants to the “International Women’s Coaching Symposium” and subsidise the conference registration fee. Therefore, the IIHA would like to offer this out to anyone interested in attending the conference and would like to avail of the subsidy.
All the applicants need to do is email office@iiha.org, state their interest, leave their name, address, age, current involvement with women’s ice hockey in Ireland and what they would like to learn from this conference no later than Sunday, 6th March 2011.
Certain criteria from the IIHF will apply in order for someone to avail of this subsidy so there will be a selection process by the IIHA to choose its two candidates.
Successful applicants will be required and responsible for the following:
•Ensuring that they are free and available to travel to and from Switzerland for the conference on the above dates
•Paying for up 75% of their travel arrangements to and from Swtizerland (to be paid up front)
•Required to keep a blog of their daily activities at the conference for possible release on www.iiha.org
•Return to Ireland and provide a detailed report making suggestions to improve women’s ice hockey in Ireland based on experiences at the conference.
If you require any further information, please contact the IIHA on office@iiha.org.
PLEASE NOTE: The deadline for registering and paying for the conference yourself is Monday, 7th March, 2011.
The deadline for applying for the subsidy from the IIHF through the IIHA is Sunday, 6th March 2011.
Applying for the subsidy from the IIHF through the IIHA is not a guarantee that you will be able to attend the conference and if you register for the conference yourself and pay your fee, you will not be in a position to then avail of the subsidy.
