The Tesco Junior Belfast Giant remain top of the IIHA League after losing to the Rams who they now share first place with after a closely fought loss to 6-4.
Junior Giants opened the scoring from Mark Reynolds only to see the Rams Aaron Cuskeran tie the game early in the first. The Giants dug in and opened a two-goal lead from Gareth Roberts and Amand Dos Santos to take the first period 3-1.
The Rams fight back starting in the second with Andrew Moriarty then Bret Dilabbio tying the game for the Rams. Roberts came to life for Belfast securing a one goal 4-3 lead for the Giants at the end of the second.
Three unanswered goals from the Rams, Matt Hearn, Dilabbio and Moriarty’s second sealed the victory for the Rams in the top of the league clash
The Giants also played the Flyers IHC winning 12-4. Three goals and an assist from Mark Reynolds and Arnaud Dos Santos did the damage for the Giants. Dean Kelly scored a pair in a losing effort for the Flyers who were out gunned by the
Junior Giants,
Development League action saw the Dublin Wolves go down to the vibrant Blackhawks. The B/Hawks were always in the lead with first period goals from Harizs Miezitis, and Oaskars Strazdinss before Ebrahim Bijhan got one back for the Wolves.
Three second period scores put the game out of reach for the Wolves. Ediks Hmelnskis and a pair from Alex Slasetovics gave the Black Hawks the win. Bijhan got his second for the Wolves but too little and too late for his team.
Only four penalties in the whole game. Well-done lads!
