Paint The Rink Pink – In Aid of the Irish Cancer Society

The rink at Ice Skating Blanchardstown was painted pink this morning (4th of December) in aid of the Irish Cancer Society. Players young and not so young (:-)) took to the ice for a fun filled session which included skating and shooting skills, ice turtles, seals and penguins!

After the session some of the girls stayed on the ice to mingle with the public, giving them valuable tips and advice on how to skate, whilst others collected money by holding a bucket collection.

Sonya McEneaney, the IIHA’s Female Development Officer remarked that “it was a wonderful day for female hockey in Ireland and she would like to thank all the girls who attended the session, especially those who gave up their time to help promote the female game and raise funds for the cancer society“. Sonya also wanted to say a massive thank you to Ice Skating Blanchardstown for allowing the IIHA to host the event and for so generously covering the cost of the ice time, and to the Flying Ducks who gave up an important ice slot of their own to help such a worthy cause.
