Pick-Up Hockey At The Odyssey

The IIHA are pleased to announce further details in relation to the ice time which has been secured at The Odyssey Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland on Sunday, 14th November.

For players under 16 years of age, the IIHA will hold a 45 minute skills development camp. This will include player skills as well as goaltending skills. Full equipment must be worn by all players and they must have their own equipment as no equipment will be provided on the day.

For players over 16 years of age, limited ice time is available and in light of the fact that the majority of players have not been on the ice since May, the IIHA will organise two one hour sessions for those who put their names forward. As part of the session, players will get a warm-up, spend roughly 15 – 20 minutes working on individual skills as well as a 30 minute scrimmage.

Since the ice time is limited, those interested in taking part in all of the categories must email their name, date of birth, email address, phone number, team they played for last season and also confirmation that they will take part to office@iiha.org no later than 6:00 pm on Wednesday, 10th November 2010.

The schedule for the day will be as follows

Under 16s only
11:15 am – 12:00 pm: Warm-Up, Player Skills & Goaltending Skills*

Over 16s only
12:15 pm – 1:15 pm: Warm-Up, Skills & Pick-Up Game 1 (non-checking)**

1:30 pm – 2:30 pm: Warm-Up, Skills & Pick-Up Game 2 (non-checking)**

Due to the fact that the IIHA’s current season has been delayed as a result of the closure of the Dundalk Ice Dome, all those players who were registered as members last season will be permitted to take part in this event without having to renew their membership in advance. New players may also take part, however, they must register and insure in full no later than Wednesday, 10th November 2010.

However, all registrations from last season will expire at midnight on Sunday, 14th November 2010. After this date, all players will be required to renew their membership with the IIHA. This will include insurance cover and any members who have not renewed their membership after this date, will no longer be covered under the IIHA’s insurance policy.

Full details on IIHA Registration and Insurance (including fees, dates and forms) will be released in the coming days in a separate news article.

*The cost per player for under 16s is €5.

**The cost per player for over 16s is €10.
