Redmond Gets The U18 Position

The IIHA are pleased to announce that it has recently appointed Kenneth Redmond to the position of Head Coach for the U18 Irish National Team. Kenneth, or Kenny as he is commonly known, will follow Sean Dooley as the Head Coach of this team after Sean’s departure home over the summer.

Kenny will bring a wealth of playing and coaching experience to the position as he has been heavily involved with ice hockey in Ireland since the opening of the Dundalk Ice Dome late in 2006. This is not Kenny’s first involvement with the U18 Irish National Team as he was Assistance Coach for the team when it won a bronze medal in 2009 in Erzurum, Turkey.

Since then, Kenny has also been involved with the Senior Irish National Team as Assistant Coach who won a gold medal back in April of this year in Kockelscheuer, Luxembourg. Kenny was also recently appointed to the position of Head Coach for the U20 Irish National Team and he will couple his responsibilities for each team.

Kenny will work hard with Jim Pepper in the coming months as they prepare the U18 Irish National Team for the 2011 IIHF World U18 Championship Division III B and also set about incorporating the first ever U20 Irish National Team into the IIHA’s seasonal plans.

We wish Kenny the best of luck in his role and look forward to experiencing both his and Jim Pepper’s endeavours throughout the season.
