In advance of the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division III in Cape Town, South Africa next week, we are pleased to announce that David Morrison has been selected as the team’s Captain while Stephen Hamill and Gareth Roberts have been selected as the team’s Assistant Captains.
All three players have been part of the Senior Men’s Irish National Team set up throughout the years and have been part of medal winning teams including the Gold Medal win in Luxembourg in 2010. Both David and Stephen have been selected as Captain in previous years while this is Gareth’s first time to be selected as an Assistant Captain.
We would like to wish them all congratulations and the best of luck in leading the team in South Africa. We would also like to thank all those who have helped with the preparations and have supported the team so far.
The Senior Men’s Irish National Team will depart Ireland this Saturday and head for Cape Town, South Africa to participate in the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division III. The Tournament runs from Monday, 15th April 2013 until Sunday 21st April 2013 with Ireland playing Greece, South Africa, Luxembourg, DPR Korea and United Arab Emirates. There will be a Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Night to fundraise for the team on Friday evening at The Czech Inn in Dublin’s City Centre. A separate notice about this is available on www.iiha.org.
