Saturday 8th July
I woke up at 9:00 am this morning as I needed to pack and get ready for the bus at 10:30 am. I’m so tired as I only got home from the farewell party at 6:00 am but it was well worth it!!! So that’s it for me as we head home now but I would just like to thank the IIHA for giving me this opportunity to come to Vierumaki, Finland. Most certainly the ice hockey Mecca of Europe and it has been the learning experience of a lifetime.
I would recommend to anyone who is interested in coaching ice hockey or in helping to promote and develop the sport on both a local and national level to contact the IIHA. If you are interested in anyway, you should express your interest because trips like this one are only available to those people who will put the work back into Irish hockey. However, be aware it is a lot of hard work and very very long hours! As well as learning hockey from some of the top coaches from all over the world, you will make friends and contacts for life…
